Who are we?

We are Eric and Yong Devaney, a couple from La Salle, Michigan, a beautiful waterfront community on Lake Erie. Eric has been sailing for most of his life and has wanted to circumnavigate since reading Dove in middle school. Yong is looking forward to traveling, although sailing would probably not be her preferred mode of transportation. Nonetheless, she is an excellent sailor who has logged thousands of ocean (and Great Lake) miles. Yong and Eric are accompanied by their two Bichon Frise dogs Pogo and Jake who have also done a lot of ocean sailing. We would be happy sailing any boat, but we are fortunate to be owners of a new Outremer 51 catamaran named Leviathan. As well as being the title of a Thomas Hobbes novel, Leviathan is a sea monster described in ancient theological and mythological texts. Our daughter Samantha came up with the name and we crowd-sourced the logo. Samantha is starting school at the University of Michigan this Fall. Our son Will just married Rachel and will be settling down in Lansing. We hope the kids will join us along our sailing adventure. We will take possession of Leviathan in La Grande Motte in the South of France on October 4th, 2022.
